ABOUT JUDO

Judo, meaning “gentle way” is

a modern martial art, combat, and Olympic sport (since 1964).

Judo was founded back in Japan in 1882 by Jigorō Kanō who envisaged not just a martial art

but a way of life.

Judo is a sport developed from ju-jitsu, Judo focuses on throws and grappling techniques to subdue opponents, with an emphasis on physical fitness, mental discipline, and sportsmanship.

Judo is many things; It is a fun sport, an art, a discipline, a recreational or social activity, a fitness program, a means of self-defense, and a way of life.

It is all of these and more.

Judo teaches you how to fall down and get back up, literally.

Judo "begins and ends with respect".
